| Eligibility |
| 1. Master of Mass Communication (MMC) |
| Provided that the candidate fulfils age and other norms laid down by the University, and Graduate with minimum 50% marks (45% in a case of SC./ST. in aggregate in Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a University established by law in India shall be eligible to apply for the Entrance Test. |
| Basis of Admission |
Admission shall be strictly based on the merit obtained in Entrance Test to be conducted by the University. The Entrance Test shall be of 100 marks and shall have the following structure :
- Aptitude objective type test (consisting of General Knowledge and Current Affairs) : 50 Marks
- Objective type test of communication skills in English Language : 25 Marks
- Objective type test of communication skills in Hindi Language : 25 Marks

| Basis of Admission |
The admission to the course will be made strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test and interview shall be open to all subject to the reservations approved by the university. The merit will be determined on the basis of written examination to be conducted by the H.P. University, Shimla. The entrance test shall consist of one paper of 100 marks and of 1 hour duration and shall include three sections viz.
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs 30 marks
- English Comprehension 30 marks
- Media Awareness 40 marks
- Interview (on the day of admission) 10 marks
Note: The minimum qualifying marks in the Entrance Test shall be 35% (in case of SC/ST candidates the minimum qualifying marks shall be reduced until the fall SC/ST quota for admission has been exhausted). |
| 3. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) |
Ph.D. is a full time regular course of study pursued by regular attendance in classes and seminars. A candidate seeking admission to the Ph. D. course must have at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in the subject concerned at Master's level. The qualifying marks in the Entrance Test for admission shall be 50%. In case of SC/ST candidates, qualifying marks in the Entrance Test are 45%
